Elegy of Everyman - the translation of a novel story

Everyone is a novel by Philip Roth. The title refers to a medieval game with the same name in the overview:

* Here begins a discourse (stories), how high the heavenly Father sends the death to hold all beings come to and recognize her life in this world, "as a character. (Wikipedia)
This gives an idea of the novel by Philip Roth. Besides the dead, is another important part of the history of the disease. These two elements are sufficient to decide to read the book or not.
The key phrase appears somewhere at the end of the novel when the hero again some former colleagues contacted by telephone after years of silence to wish them good luck. All we like it, suffer from a disease. He phones in action, when look back at his own life and try to make some of the mistakes he had made in society. The errors which are "inevitable." In this context, the main character: explains: "Old age is not a struggle, old age is a massacre."
There are two major career move in the story: - The protagonist is a Creative Director - The gravedigger The brother of career history is simply to show the spirit of the time, he worked for Goldman Sachs.
One of the last scenes of the hero, the former artistic director, the painter, chatting with the former gravedigger at the cemetery where his parents are buried quite striking. If a scene is to survive in this book in my memory, it is certainly one.
But in the Spanish version of the book, the title was changed to Elegy (by the Translator: Jordi Fibla). Why, I wonder?
This is part of Spanish culture, I think. Titles of films and books are changed. Anyone could easily be translated (as in German: "Everybody" was), but seems to complain that the book is, although the term elegy is not eternal.
The title, but even more about the book. And it was not necessary, I think.
