# 12 Lord of the Flies by William Golding (1954)
This novel is not the best 12th on the list (it would be rated much higher, in my opinion), but twelve in number, because the argument is whether it is really a futuristic novel or not. The definition of dystopia is not necessarily clear whether the general definition is that rule is a society in which poverty and adverse conditions (or apparent utopia is obtained at a terrible price.)
In view of a dysfunctional society, the island, with its hint of boys it is, once the shell is no longer visible as the foundation, every other case. If someone wants to work anarchy could argue this book is an immediate argument against it would be. It is an incredible psychological work, and I would say that their society is quite as likely dysfunctional dystopia.
1985 # 11 The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood ()
This story is from the first person Offredi. Offredi is a girl in a time when fertile women forced to play slot machines will be able to keep the human population. This happens because the world is a post-nuclear world, where can not have children, many women. It is a very theocratic society, and this book tends to be very pro-feminist and anti-religious, which often protested. This is a great futuristic story is frightening because the logic of how the company is the way it happens very credible.
# 10 Neuromancer by William Gibson (1984)
Most of the novels of William Gibson is about a dystopian future society, but Neuromancer is the best of all. This novel won the sci-fi "Triple Crown" for writers by winning the Nebula, Hugo, and Philip K. Dick Price. In a seedy underground Japanese city, a hacker is hired to work on the ultimate hack. rinsed in a world with AI, virtual reality, genetic engineering and corporate oppressive nations, the next adventure. Gibson plays many modern writers of the Sci-Fi to the punch line, and the futuristic novel, one of the most influential of modern times.
# 9 Iron Heel by Jack London (1908)
Iron Heel is an excellent dystopian novel by the rise of a tyrannical corporate oligarchy in the United States. This book does not pay attention to technology as the most future dystopian science-fiction novels do now. This work has highlighted the changes in society and politics, with the oligarchy of robber barons, the middle class and not take power before a system of "caste" of workers formed. It was a fantastic novel, very dystopian ahead of his time was.
# 8 The Running Man in 1982 by Richard Bachman ()
Written by Stephen King under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, "The Running Man" is a futuristic fantasy novel of a terrifying future in which the notes and the conversation is taking shape in a man-hunt, and where even the "winners" are losers. This novel is far superior to the film, and in my opinion is one of the best novels of Stephen King wrote. "The Long Walk" is also a special mention.
# 7 Armageddon's Children by Terry Brooks (2006)
I read probably more than 200 books of the last two years, and among many other fine novels, "Armageddon's Children" was one of my favorites. This is one of the best novels by Terry Brooks wrote, and is in a post-apocalyptic world by 2100, according to (among others) a lonely beach runner others are trying desperately to the demon to ward off attacks, and roam a group of young bands that the remains of Seattle tried to survive. The fantasy world of Shannara was generated from the waste post-apocalyptic earth, and this series bridges the gap between the two.
# 6 The Chrysalids by John Wyndham (1955)
This futuristic novel is a further example of a post-nuclear world. This time dystopia comes from a "necessity" of purity. Because humans are born with increased mutations and birth defects, the State will be someone not execute the "perfect", which means even one extra toe can be a death sentence. This attempt perfection in a post-apocalyptic world power is disturbing and effective and has spawned many imitators.
# 5 The Son of man by PD James (1992)
Most people know the movie with Richard Gere and Julianne Moore. The film was very good, but it is very different from the book. In this world, for reasons unknown, the sperm count of men has fallen to zero, and without reason or explanation, mankind now faces its own extinction. The sow fear during this time has extraordinary powers to hold governments to the peace and when a woman becomes pregnant, the effects are enormous.
1895 # 4 The Time Machine by H. G. Wells ()
"The Time Machine" one of the best science fiction novels are written to each. This novel is the story of "The Time Traveler", which builds a machine that can travel it in the distant future. While this may not futuristic at first glance, but a society that is sweet and seems happy to collect prey predators, food for people ... if not as a dystopian society of shit, I do not know what it is. The hero tells his story about a man of his time, took up arms, and returned in the future, never to return. This novel is the place where the machine time ", the same source.
# 3 1984 1949 by George Orwell ()
This is not the best novel written, but it is one of the three great novels of science fiction dystopia. This could very well be the most famous of the big three, as "1984" is synonymous with tyrannical governments, fascism and dystopian science fiction. Even the phrase "1984" and "Big Brother" as part of the common culture. Orwell shows detailed how a government to manipulate the people through the manipulation of truth and manipulation of messages. This book is the source of a government against the extreme right is the absolute power to fight.
# 2 Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (1953)
Guy Montag begins the novel as a classic fireman: that is, he is a man of the company all the books that are banned asks to burn. In contrast to "1984" or "Brave New World", "451" not against the political left or right political talk, but speaks against the dumbing down of society, especially on how can the Hollywood slush Pop Culture and Entertainment Television a whole nation of people who are fighting not only incapable of their rights, but who are not even aware of the importance to do so. This is a brilliant novel, the soldier would be Guy of State to a free and independent thinker who has to take to the track in order to survive shows.
1932 # 1 Brave New World by Aldous Huxley ()
Although this dystopian masterpiece, "Fahrenheit 451 could be," as the first two interchangeable, "Brave New World" won the signs because the writing itself is the best. This novel is incredible and shows a society where the left-wing thinking and hedonism itself is so far to the extreme that the utopia out of a person to a place should be taken if the terrible irony of life quiet has caused the company to all losing the meaning of art, honor, religious beliefs, or anything that often defines culture. Utopia "are people who do not have compassion, no empathy, and the vision of a future is as cold as the others on that list.
